Waiting Children

Rather than waiting for their adoption agency to match them with a child on the shared list, many families find their children on their own through advocacy websites, adoption Yahoo Groups, or on agency specific lists. This is how we found our little Joshua! We saw his file posted on Madison Adoption Associates' Yahoo Group and the AdvocateforWC Group. We were immediately interested, and soon after locked his file! We brought him home in March 2011.



I have compiled on this page as many of these resources as I am aware of (please email me if you know of a resource not listed here). There are literally hundreds of precious children waiting for families.........could one of them be yours?

Advocate For Waiting Children: This very active Yahoo Group is a great place to start. A text copy of the most recent shared list is typically posted in the files section, as well as hundreds of photos of waiting children (a lot of them Special Focus). The members of this Yahoo Group are very dedicated to finding children homes! We actually found our little Joshua thanks to this Yahoo Group.

Madison Adoption Associates Waiting Children: This is our adoption agency! Madison has a fairly large individual list due to their camps that they host several times a year. Camp Tiger and Camp Rabbit are the most recent. There are many precious children waiting! You do not have to be a client to join.

Madison Adoption also recently announced the launch of their new Warming Hearts Program for Heilongjiang Adoptions!!! Madison signed an agreement in February 2011 to be the exclusive placement agency for 3 orphanages in the Heilongjiang province of Northern China. They are going to be receiving the referrals of many older children who have been waiting a long time for their families. Some of these referral files are already listed on the agency Yahoo Group (link above).

However, there are also a lot of children that are younger with minor special needs, both boys and girls, who are currently being made paper ready (getting medicals done, having files prepared, sent to CCAA, translated, then posted to my agency's list). They expect to receive most of these referrals within the next 3-4 months.
