Holt International China Program

Holt was hands off from the beginning. The whole 17 months we were waiting, they were not helpful at all. There was a feeling like they didn't know anything about our daughter. At one point they asked ME if she was in foster care or in the orphanage. They never told me what orphanage she was even associated with. Ann from Red Thread found out for me. I felt like I was bugging them if I called.

We almost had to interrupt our adoption because our daughter was in foster care for 6 1/2 years, same family. My daughter is 8. It was awful, they should have never let her stay that long, when they found out that we were adopting her, she should have been moved to break the bond with her China mother. Holt did no favors for this little girl. She suffered greatly. She was not prepared at all for what was going to happen to her.

The director of Holt was called from China and told of all the problems we were experiencing. She talked to us once. The head of the China team was with us every day for hours a day trying to rectify the situation. It was a heartbreaking process and they had to be really rough with our sweet little girl. Since returning home 3 months ago, we have not heard ONE WORD from Holt. NOTHING! As far as I am concerned they got their money and they don't really care about the transition.

That is just my experience I would never recommened them to anyone.
